gama consulting has provided engineering services for a range of multi award winning projects including this stunning Finesse Built beach-side residence and 2020 HIA South Australian Custom Built Home Winner.
One of the challenges with the project was ensuring a feeling of space for the occupants given the narrow 12m wide block for this four-bedroom double storey dwelling.
Some of the engineering features in this home included the reduced floor thickness of the upper level which also needed to allow for the front cantilever and act as a divider between the upper and lower-level timber cladded structure.
Sustainability was also a consideration with the upper roof designed to accommodate a 38 panel, 10.45kW solar system. The dual skillion roof at the rear of the home also allows for natural light from the highlight windows.
Louvre windows were incorporated to the upper west facing windows to capture the south-westerly breeze to both to naturally cool the home and reduce heat from the afternoon summer sun with Low-E glazing.
